The Legendary Dutch film actor, Rutger Hauer who played Roy Batty in the sci-fi epic, died at home in the Netherlands after a brief illness.
This was confirmed by his agent, Steve Kenis, who revealed Hauer died on 19 July and his funeral was held today.
He is best remembered for his role in the 1982 movie classic, in which he played murderous replicant Batty, the leader of an outlaw gang.
Hauer also appeared in 2005’s Sin City as Cardinal Roark and in Batman Begins as the corporate villain who Bruce Wayne discovers is running Wayne Corp.
Some of the popular films he featured in are, Flesh + Blood, Eureka, The Hitcher, Blade Runner, Lady hawke and Blind Fury.”

After growing up in the Netherlands, near Amsterdam, Hauer ran away from home at 15 to join the navy.
After returning from the armed services, he returned to study acting, but set sail for another stint in the navy before finally committing himself to the screen.
He started landing jobs in the late 1960s and worked throughout the 1970s before being catapulted to stardom in Blade Runner in 1982.
